The University of Newcastle invites applications for its Research Training Program (RTP), 2020-21, from students holding a Bachelor’s degree. These Research Scholarships, generously supported by the Commonwealth Department of Education, are specifically designed to assist graduates in pursuing either a Master’s Degree Research or a Research Doctorate, thereby fostering and building careers in academia.
Selected candidates for this prestigious program will receive substantial financial support and additional benefits. This includes an annual living allowance of AUD 27,596 per annum, provided in fortnightly installments. Beyond the stipend, awardees also benefit from a relocation allowance of AUD 1,500 and other valuable provisions such as maternity leave. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Newcastle University and Commonwealth Government Scholarships, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
• Meet Admission Criteria: The applicant must satisfy the admission criteria for the specific Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program (HDR program) to which they have applied.
• Pre-Identified Candidate (PIC): The applicant must be accepted as a Pre-Identified Candidate, which includes having a nominated supervisor for the respective school or program. This step is crucial for demonstrating a clear research direction and mentorship.
• English Language Proficiency: Applicants are required to meet the English language proficiency standard. This typically involves achieving a minimum score on tests such as IELTS (minimum 6.5).
• Genuine Temporary Entrant Assessment: Candidates must have successfully completed a Genuine Temporary Entrant Assessment.
• Autonomous Sanctions: All necessary Autonomous Sanctions must be completed and cleared.
