597 EMRS Students Clear JEE, NEET 2024-25: Gujarat & MP Lead

Five hundred ninety-seven students from Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) achieved significant success in the 2024-25 academic year, clearing the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, JEE Advanced, and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh (MP) led the nation in these results, with 288 NEET qualifiers originating from EMRS in these two states alone.

The results highlight the performance across EMRS, specifically impacting students from Scheduled Tribes. Out of 230 EMRS schools offering Class 12 studies nationwide, 101 students successfully navigated these competitive college entrance examinations. This achievement provides a pathway to higher professional education for these students.

National Performance in JEE and NEET

Government data details state-wise performance. For JEE Main, Telangana, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh recorded the highest number of EMRS student qualifiers. Conversely, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand registered the lowest number of qualifiers for this engineering entrance test.

A total of 344 EMRS students successfully cleared the NEET entrance examination. Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh consistently demonstrated strong performance, producing the majority of these qualifiers. Despite the overall success, six states reported no EMRS students qualifying for NEET last year.

In JEE Advanced, the examination for entry into Indian Institutes of Technology, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh produced the most qualifiers among EMRS students. Thirty-four EMRS students cleared JEE Advanced during the 2024-25 academic cycle.

About Eklavya Model Residential Schools

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs established EMRS with a clear mandate: to deliver quality education to Scheduled Tribe (ST) students. The schools aim to bridge educational gaps, offering critical access to higher and professional education. This initiative supports ST students in securing employment across various sectors after graduation.

Nationwide, 485 EMRS schools are currently operational. These schools served 1.38 lakh students during the 2024-25 academic year. The government has sanctioned a total of 722 EMRS schools. To support this network, Rs 68,418 lakh has been released, underscoring the commitment to tribal education.
