About This Scholarship

The National Law University (Project 39A) Internship Programme 2023 offers a unique opportunity for students to gain meaningful exposure to the complexities and nuances of the criminal justice system in India. This program is extended by the National Law University, New Delhi.

It is open to students currently enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate programs across various disciplines. The primary objective is to provide an in-depth understanding of the system through practical engagement.

Project 39A itself is inspired by Article 39-A of the Indian Constitution, which promotes equal justice and equal opportunity by addressing economic and social barriers. Through empirical research, Project 39A aims to foster new discussions on critical areas such as legal aid, torture, forensics, mental health in prisons, and the death penalty.

Candidates can apply for this internship on a rolling basis, with the application period running from March 2023 to March 2024. Selection of interns will be based strictly on the fulfillment of the outlined eligibility criteria.

Successful full-time interns will receive a stipend of ₹10,000 per month. Part-time interns will be awarded a stipend of ₹5,000 per month for the duration of their internship.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, an applicant must:

• be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate programme in Law, Humanities, Social Sciences, Social Work, Management, or Media.

Note: The internship is open to students in India and other countries. While students enrolled in other programmes may apply, preference will be given to those enrolled in the disciplines listed above.

• Statement of purpose not exceeding 500 words, clearly explaining the candidate's interest in the internship.
