NAAC Issues Show-Cause to Al-Falah University for False Accreditation

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has issued a show-cause notice to Al-Falah University in New Delhi. The notice addresses the university’s display of false accreditation claims on its official website. NAAC clarified that Al-Falah University is neither accredited by the council nor has it applied for accreditation.

NAAC Cites Misleading Claims

NAAC’s notice highlighted specific misleading information. Al-Falah University’s website publicly claimed its affiliation with the “Al-Falah Charitable Trust.” This trust reportedly operates three colleges on the university campus.

The website specifically cited the Al Falah School of Engineering and Technology . It was listed as established in 1997 and “Graded A by NAAC.” The site also mentioned Brown Hill College of Engineering and Technology , established in 2008. Additionally, the Al-Falah School of Education and Training , established in 2006, was also listed as “Graded A by NAAC.”

NAAC explicitly stated these claims are “absolutely wrong and misleading the public.” The council emphasized the negative impact on parents, students, and other stakeholders relying on accurate accreditation information.

Accreditation Process and Purpose

NAAC is an autonomous body under the University Grants Commission (UGC). Its primary role is to assess and accredit Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across India. Accreditation signifies an institution’s quality and adherence to educational standards.

The accreditation process involves a comprehensive evaluation. This includes curriculum, teaching-learning methodologies, infrastructure, research output, and governance practices. A NAAC grade, such as ‘A’, indicates high quality standards. False accreditation claims undermine the integrity of this critical assessment system.

Students and parents rely on verified NAAC accreditation status for informed decision-making. Incorrect or fabricated information can lead to misdirected academic and financial investments for students.

Directives Issued to University

NAAC has demanded an immediate and comprehensive explanation from Al-Falah University. The show-cause notice instructs the university to remove all NAAC accreditation details. These details must be purged from its official website without delay.

Furthermore, the university must remove these false claims from any other publicly available or distributed documents. Compliance with these directives is mandatory. Failure to comply may result in further action by the council.

University Under Delhi Blast Probe

Al-Falah University is also currently under scrutiny in connection with a separate Delhi blast probe . This investigation concerns an alleged “white collar terror module.”

A high-intensity car blast occurred near Red Fort in Delhi, resulting in 13 fatalities and multiple injuries. This incident followed the exposure of the alleged terror module. Law enforcement officials arrested three individuals, identified as doctors, who are linked to Al-Falah University.

Impact on Students and Future Actions

The show-cause notice creates uncertainty for current and prospective students of Al-Falah University. Students are advised to verify accreditation status directly through official NAAC channels for accuracy.

NAAC’s action underscores its commitment to transparency and maintaining the integrity of the higher education system. Further actions against Al-Falah University will depend on its formal response to the notice and its compliance with directives. This situation highlights the importance of due diligence for all educational institutions to ensure accurate information for students.
