IIT Mandi 13th Convocation: 602 Students Graduate Nov 13

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi will host its 13th Convocation Ceremony on November 13, 2025 . The event, held at the institute’s campus, will celebrate the graduation of 602 students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs.

Graduating Class Breakdown

The 2025 graduating cohort includes students from various academic disciplines. A total of 292 students will receive undergraduate degrees. Postgraduate programs will see 241 students complete their studies. Additionally, 69 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) scholars will be awarded their doctoral degrees. These graduates represent a diverse range of engineering, science, and humanities fields offered by IIT Mandi.

New Programs and Recognition

The 13th Convocation marks a milestone with the graduation of the inaugural batches from three newly introduced academic programs. These programs are the BTech-MTech dual degree, the BTech with a second major, and the BTech with a specialization. During the ceremony, IIT Mandi will also confer various medals and awards. These honors acknowledge student excellence in academics, significant research contributions, innovative projects, and demonstrated leadership skills.

Distinguished Guests and Leadership

The Chairman of the Board of Governors, IIT Mandi, will preside over the convocation ceremony. Dr. Shekhar C. Mande, Former Director General of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), serves as the Chief Guest. CSIR is a network of national laboratories focusing on scientific and industrial research in India. Two esteemed Guests of Honour will also attend. Dr. Jagannath Nayak, Director of the Centre for High Energy Systems and Sciences (CHESS), which is part of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), will be present. Accompanying him is Dr. Budaraju Srinivasa Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad. These dignitaries will address the graduating students and institute faculty.

IIT Mandi Director Laxmidhar Behera highlighted the institute’s core educational philosophy. He affirmed IIT Mandi’s strong focus on interdisciplinary learning approaches and producing research with direct societal impact. Behera stated that each graduating student embodies the institute’s dedication to innovation and academic excellence.
