Remaining Votes and Outcome Expectation

Sources indicate that approximately 1,500 votes remain to be counted. The Election Committee has confirmed that the final results for all central panel posts are likely to be announced on Thursday night . This ongoing count will determine the final victors in what has been described as a fiercely contested election.

Councillor Election Results and Voter Participation

Prior to the central panel counting, the ABVP had already declared significant gains in the councillor elections. The party announced it secured 14 out of the 26 declared councillor seats. ABVP leadership claimed a “clean sweep” in three specific schools within the university, indicating strong support in those areas.

The JNUSU polls were conducted on Tuesday , drawing considerable student participation. The overall voter turnout registered at 67 percent. This figure marks a slight decrease compared to the previous year’s turnout of 70 percent. The election process saw students actively engaging, forming long queues at various booths across the campus and participating with visible enthusiasm.

Ideological Divisions on Campus

The JNUSU elections are widely observed as a reflection of the prevailing ideological divides within the university campus. The contest primarily involves two major student political alignments. The Left Unity is an alliance comprising the All India Students’ Association (AISA), the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), and the Democratic Students’ Federation (DSF). Facing them is the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), which is affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
