CAT 2025: IIM Ahmedabad Demands 99+ Percentile for MBA Admission

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) holds the top rank among management colleges in India, according to the National Institutional Rankings Framework (NIRF) 2025. IIM Bangalore ranks second, followed by IIM Kozhikode at third. Prospective MBA students targeting these top institutions must achieve highly competitive percentile scores.

IIM Admission Requirements

IIM Bangalore and IIM Kozhikode are likely to maintain CAT cut-offs between 97 and 99 percentile. These figures are consistent with previous years’ trends. Admission to top B-schools, including IIMs, involves multiple stages. Candidates are evaluated based on their CAT performance, a personal interview (PI), a written ability test (WAT), group discussion (GD), and relevant work experience.

Each IIM sets its own eligibility criteria. This includes specific academic cut-offs and variable weightages for different selection components. For CAT 2024, IIM Bangalore assigned 25% weightage to the MBA entrance exam marks. IIM Kozhikode reduced the weightage for Class 10 marks from 25% to 15% in the same year.

The official CAT 2025 notification states the examination score is a crucial selection component. IIMs also consider candidates’ past academic performance, work experience, and other inputs during various selection stages.

IIM Kozhikode is conducting CAT 2025. The online application window for the MBA entrance test closes on November 20 . Eligible candidates must apply through the official website, iimcat.ac.in. The exam will take place on November 30 , with admit cards available from November 12 .

In CAT 2024, only 14 candidates scored a perfect 100 percentile out of approximately 3 lakh test-takers. This highlights the examination’s competitive nature.

Beyond the IIMs, other leading institutions also accept CAT scores for MBA admissions. These include IIT Delhi, Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon, and Xavier School of Management (XLRI) Jamshedpur.
