Kerala KITE Launches Haritha Vidyalayam Season 4

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) will launch the fourth edition of its educational reality show, ‘Haritha Vidyalayam,’ in December. Government and aided schools must submit applications by November 15 .

KITE, the technical arm of the state General Education Department, announced the program on Sunday. Haritha Vidyalayam aims to showcase achievements and best practices within Kerala’s public education sector. Officials stated the initiative provides a national platform for school excellence.

Program Overview

Haritha Vidyalayam stands as a unique educational reality show in India. It highlights successful models and innovative programs implemented by schools. The program seeks to share these successful practices with other educational institutions across the state.

Application Process and Categories

Schools wishing to participate must apply before the deadline of November 15 . KITE accepts applications in two distinct categories. Primary schools form one category. High schools and higher secondary schools constitute the second category.

Selection Criteria

K. Anvar Sadath, CEO of KITE, detailed the criteria for selecting preliminary round participants. Schools are evaluated on their academic activities and co-curricular programs. Infrastructural facilities, including digital learning resources, also contribute to the assessment. Social participation and community involvement are key factors. Recognized accolades and awards hold importance. Unique, innovative school-specific activities demonstrate a school’s distinctive approach.

Core Objectives

Sadath outlined the primary goals of Haritha Vidyalayam. The program recognizes creative and exemplary work carried out by schools. It brings these successful efforts to public attention. By sharing these models, KITE aims to raise the overall standard of public education. The platform also facilitates discussions on comprehensive advancements within the public education sector.

Previous Editions and Achievements

This fourth edition follows successful shows held in 2010, 2017, and 2022. Kerala’s schools now provide state-of-the-art physical facilities. They offer excellent academic support and integrate technology-based learning, including AI and Robotics, Sadath stated. In the third edition, Govt HS Odappallam (Wayanad) and GUPS Purathur (Malappuram) jointly won the first prize. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan presented the winning schools with Rs 20 lakh each.

Preliminary Round Logistics

KITE will select 100 schools for the preliminary round from the pool of applicants. The organization will undertake video documentation of each selected school. Schools chosen for this round will receive financial support. KITE will provide a maximum of Rs 20,000 to cover costs. This funding assists with presentation expenses, travel, and accommodation, Sadath confirmed.

Broadcasting and Awards

The Haritha Vidyalayam program will be telecast on the KITE VICTERS educational channel. Broadcasting is scheduled to begin from the end of December. Special awards will be presented to the 10 schools selected for the final round. The ultimate winners will receive their awards during the Grand Finale in February 2026 .
