IIIT Delhi Awards 780 Degrees at 14th Convocation Ceremony

NEW DELHI – The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi held its 14th convocation ceremony, awarding degrees to 780 students across various BTech, MTech, and PhD programs. The event marked a significant milestone for graduates completing their academic journeys.

Degrees were conferred to 517 Bachelor of Technology (BTech) students. Another 226 students received Master of Technology (MTech) degrees, including three dual-degree holders. Additionally, 34 candidates earned Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees.

Degree Distribution

The institute awarded BTech degrees across several specialized disciplines, including:

  • Computer Science and Engineering
  • Electronics and Communications Engineering
  • Computer Science and Applied Mathematics
  • Computer Science and Design
  • Computer Science and Social Sciences
  • Computer Science and Biosciences
  • Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence

PhD degrees were awarded in diverse areas. These included Computational Biology, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Human-Centred Design, Mathematics, and Social Sciences and Humanities.

Convocation Addresses

Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and Chancellor, Vinai Kumar Saxena , addressed the graduating class. He congratulated the students and acknowledged the support provided by faculty, parents, and mentors.

Anand Deshpande , Founder and Chairman of Persistent Systems, delivered the convocation address. Deshpande urged graduates to contribute to India’s technological and developmental progress. He stated that IIIT Delhi’s graduates would play a vital role in reshaping technology and engineering. This contribution supports Prime Minister Modi’s vision of “Swavalambi and Vikasit Bharat” (Self-Reliant and Developed India).

IIIT-Delhi Director, Ranjan Bose , presented the Director’s Report for 2024–25. The report detailed the institute’s academic and research developments. These included new programs, research projects, and collaborations. Bose encouraged graduates to pursue paths that excite their intellectual passions, ignite their creativity, and channel their abilities productively.

The convocation ceremony also recognized students for outstanding academic performance and achievements. The institute presented several medals and awards:
