India Education: AI Curriculum, Free JEE Course, Youth Programs

The Indian government plans to introduce an Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum for schools nationwide, starting from Class 3. This initiative aims to integrate AI into foundational learning. Concurrently, IIT Kanpur launched a free 40-day online crash course for JEE Main 2026 aspirants, beginning November 1, 2025 , as part of the SATHEE platform.

Government to Introduce AI Curriculum for Primary Schools

The Ministry of Education will introduce an Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum for all Indian schools, starting with Class 3. This move is a first step towards the ethical application of AI in problem-solving. The curriculum will integrate Artificial Intelligence and Computational Thinking to improve learning, thinking, and teaching processes.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) formed an expert committee to develop this curriculum. Professor Karthik Raman from IIT Madras chairs the committee. The curriculum aligns with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023 and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. A stakeholder consultation took place in New Delhi. Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, emphasized AI education as a fundamental and universal skill.

IBM Partners AICTE for New AI Lab

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and IBM will establish an Artificial Intelligence (AI) lab at AICTE headquarters. The lab aims to provide students and faculty with training in emerging technologies. It will also offer exposure to industry standards.

This collaboration focuses on upskilling in AI, data science, and related fields. It will include practical learning, certification, and curriculum support for technical institutions. The government stated the partnership makes AI “accessible, inclusive, and aligned with development goals.” Plans include selecting and training master-trainers, organizing workshops and hackathons, and providing accreditation. The initiative seeks to equip thousands of students and faculty with future-ready skills.

Model Youth Gram Sabha Teaches Grassroots Democracy

The Model Youth Gram Sabha (MYGS) initiative educates students in Indian villages about democracy and community decision-making. Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the role of youth in this program. MYGS addresses historically low youth participation in Gram Sabhas, or village meetings.

Students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) and Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) participate in mock Gram Sabhas. They debate local issues, set priorities, and learn decision-making. This mirrors actual village council operations. The program develops public speaking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020. Students analyze community problems and propose solutions. They learn about transparency and constitutional rights within the Panchayati Raj system.

MY Bharat App Expands Youth Engagement
