Sixteen students sustained injuries Friday morning when a temporary gallery collapsed at a private college in Kerala. The incident occurred around 8:45 AM, according to college sources. The collapse took place during a program marking Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary.
Incident Details
The temporary gallery was erected specifically for the program. Students were reportedly asked to stand on the structure to allow for a count of their numbers. At this point, the gallery gave way. College sources confirmed the collapse happened suddenly.
Injuries and Treatment
Students suffered injuries as their legs became caught in the collapsed portions of the gallery. The injured included members of both the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS). These students were part of various units attending the event.
Emergency response transported the injured students to Pala General Hospital. Other private hospitals also received students for treatment. Fortunately, none of the students sustained serious injuries, college sources stated.
