The Telangana Government Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has announced a new provision for private Arts and Humanities students. These candidates can now appear for the Telangana Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) in March 2026 without requiring college attendance. This allowance enables students to pursue their intermediate certification outside traditional institutional study.
Application Process and Deadlines
Eligible candidates must pay an exemption fee of Rs 500 . Applications, along with the fee, must be submitted online through the official website,tsbie.cgg.gov.in. The final date for fee payment and application submission is November 17, 2025 .
Students who miss the initial deadline can still apply with a late fee of Rs 200 . This extended period runs until November 29, 2025 . All applications must be submitted online; applications sent by post or in person will not be accepted by the TGBIE.
Required Documents for Application
- Scanned copy of SSC pass certificate.
- Scanned copy of Transfer Certificate.
- Scanned copy of Eligibility or Migration Certificate, if applicable.
The TGBIE will summarily reject incomplete applications. This includes applications missing original qualifying examination certificates, the Transfer Certificate, or the Migration Certificate. Candidates who passed qualifying examinations from boards outside Telangana State must also include an Eligibility Certificate.
Eligibility Criteria for Exemption
Specific criteria govern who can apply as a private candidate for the Telangana IPE March 2026:
- First-Year Candidates: Applicants must have a one-year gap after passing their SSC or equivalent examination to appear for the First-Year Intermediate exams in March 2026.
- Both First and Second-Year Candidates: Students with a gap of two years or more after completing SSC are eligible to appear for both First and Second-Year Intermediate exams in March 2026.
- Subject Change: Second-year candidates who failed and wish to change their optional subjects from Science to Arts/Humanities, or within Humanities streams, must apply for an attendance exemption.
- Additional Subjects (Second Language): Candidates who previously passed both First and Second-Year Intermediate exams can appear for a Second Language as an additional subject.
- Additional Subjects (Mathematics): Students who passed Intermediate with the BPC (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) group can appear for Mathematics only as an additional subject.
- Out-of-State Boards: Candidates who passed SSC or equivalent examinations from boards outside Telangana must obtain an Eligibility Certificate. This certificate is issued by TGBIE, Hyderabad, and a scanned copy must be uploaded with the online exemption application.
Examination Details
All private candidates granted exemption will answer papers based on the current syllabus. This syllabus is prescribed for regular students. Practical and internal assessment tests for English, under Part 1, will continue for both General and Vocational streams. These assessments are based on the Practical Manual: A Handbook of Communicative English. The English assessment was introduced for first-year candidates from IPE March 2024 and for second-year candidates from IPE March 2025.
