India Education News: UGC Warning, Space & Agri Updates

India’s education sector saw several significant developments on October 27, 2025 . The University Grants Commission (UGC), the nation’s higher education regulator, issued a public warning against an unauthorized Delhi institution. Concurrently, a major student space competition commenced in Uttar Pradesh, fostering innovation in science. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also urged the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to fill vacant positions, aiming to strengthen agricultural studies.

UGC Warns Public Against Unrecognized Delhi Institute

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a stern public warning. The warning targets the Institute of Management and Engineering (IME), Delhi. This institution operates from 1810/4, 1st Floor, Kotla Mubarakpur, Delhi. It is illegally offering degree courses to students, operating outside legal recognition.

According to an official notice released by the UGC, IME violates the UGC Act, 1956. This Act governs standards for university education in India. The institution lacks recognition under Section 2(f) of the Act. It also does not fall under Section 3, which grants deemed university status. Therefore, IME is not empowered to award any degrees, as stipulated by Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956.

The UGC strongly advises the public against admitting students to this self-styled institution. Doing so could severely jeopardize their education. It also poses a significant risk to future career prospects. For a verified and current list of recognized institutions, students and parents can visit the official UGC website atugc.gov.in. This is crucial for safeguarding academic futures.
