New Delhi, India – Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, October 24, 2025 , distributed over 51,000 appointment letters during the 17th National Rozgar Mela. The event, held in New Delhi, saw the total number of distributed letters exceed 11 lakh since the initiative began. Prime Minister Modi also launched the ‘Viksit Bharat Yojana,’ an initiative aiming to create 3.5 crore jobs for Indian youth.

These announcements mark a day of significant educational developments across the nation. Other key updates include plans for India’s first IIT campus in Nigeria, Kerala’s integration into the PM SHRI school scheme, and events highlighting cultural preservation and women’s empowerment.

PM Modi Addresses Youth Employment

Prime Minister Modi emphasized the youth’s critical role in achieving a developed India. He stated that empowering young individuals remains a national priority. Initiatives such as the Steel India Mission, the National Career Service platform, and the Pratibha Setu portal support skill training and employment.

India’s foreign policy and global agreements also prioritize youth training, upskilling, and employment opportunities abroad. The ‘Viksit Bharat Yojana’ aims to provide substantial job creation over the coming years.

India and Nigeria Collaborate on IIT Campus

India and Nigeria are advancing plans to establish the first Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Nigeria. Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, Nigeria’s Minister of Education, announced this collaboration following discussions with Indian High Commissioner Abhishek Singh.

The new IIT campus aims to provide world-class education. It seeks to position Nigeria as a regional hub for technological excellence within Africa. This move deepens educational cooperation between the two nations.

Kerala Joins PM SHRI Schools Scheme

The Kerala government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Union Education Ministry. This agreement integrates Kerala into the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme.

The PM SHRI scheme focuses on upgrading school infrastructure. It allocates an average of INR 1 crore annually to selected schools for five years. The program targets two schools from each block for development assistance.

Launched on September 7, 2022 , the scheme aims to upgrade approximately 14,500 schools. This includes institutions run by the Central and State governments, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and Navodaya Vidyalayas. The goal is to provide high-quality education and equip students with 21st-century skills.

Ladakh Schools Promote Culture and Education

Remote schools in Ladakh are transforming through the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and the PM Shri Scheme. PM Shri Government High School Thasgam in Drass recently hosted an Ethnic Food Festival.

Students showcased Ladakhi culture, presenting Shina cuisine, traditional dances, and ethnic attire. Councillor Abdul Wahid and Indian Army officials attended the event. It highlighted the schemes’ success in fostering academic excellence, cultural pride, and community involvement in the region.

President Murmu Praises Women’s Education

President Droupadi Murmu attended the centenary celebrations of St. Teresa’s College in Ernakulam, Kerala. She lauded the college’s century-long contributions to women’s education and social transformation. President Murmu noted the college’s commitment to spiritual values and empowering women for nation-building.

She highlighted Kerala’s historic women leaders, including Constituent Assembly members Ammu Swaminathan, Annie Mascarene, and Dakshayani Velayudhan. Justice Anna Chandy, India’s first woman High Court judge, and Justice M. Fathima Beevi, India’s first woman Supreme Court judge, were also recognized.

Addressing students, President Murmu emphasized women’s pivotal role in India’s demographic framework. She linked women’s empowerment to achieving ‘Viksit Bharat by 2047 .’ She also mentioned increased gender budget allocation and the rise of women-led Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The President expressed confidence in the current generation of women as agents of national change.
