Mumbai, India – The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) conducted its Convocation 2025, conferring degrees upon 343 students . The ceremony, held at the institute’s Khargar campus, recognized graduates completing undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. Pabitra Margherita, Minister of State for Textiles and External Affairs, presided over the event. Minister Margherita also officially inaugurated new academic infrastructure at the Mumbai campus.
A total of 312 students from NIFT Mumbai received undergraduate and postgraduate degrees during the convocation. An additional 29 students from the NIFT Daman campus were conferred with UG and PG degrees. The event also marked the conferral of two PhD degrees for scholarly excellence. Susmita Das, Associate Professor at NIFT Mumbai, and Amisha Mehta, Associate Professor at NIFT Gandhinagar, were the recipients of these doctoral honors.
New Academic Infrastructure Unveiled
The newly inaugurated facilities at NIFT Mumbai’s Khargar campus comprise Academic Buildings 1, 2, and 3, alongside a new multi-purpose hall. These additions aim to provide state-of-the-art learning resources. The infrastructure now features curated classrooms, advanced laboratories for practical training, a versatile multi-purpose venue for events, and a sophisticated auditorium with a 500-seat capacity . This expansion is designed to significantly enhance academic facilities and foster an inspiring educational environment for students and faculty. The goal, as stated in an official press release, is to actively encourage creativity and scholastic achievement.
Minister Margherita highlighted the importance of these new facilities. She noted that NIFT Mumbai and NIFT Daman cultivate a culture of innovation and creativity daily. The minister stated that both campuses, with their infrastructure, skilled faculty, and vibrant student communities, stand as respected design institutions within the country.
