SSC CGL Tier-1 Answer Key Released | Check Scores & Object

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Tier-1 exam answer key and candidate response sheets. Over 13.5 lakh candidates can now check their scores and raise objections. The provisional key and response sheets are available on the official website, ssc.gov.in.

This recruitment drive aims to fill 14,582 vacancies across various Group B and C government posts. The Tier-1 exam took place in 45 shifts. It was conducted across 126 cities and 255 centers from September 12 to 26.

The SSC faced technical issues during the exam period. Nearly 2,000 candidates reported concerns through the grievance portal. This led to a re-exam for affected candidates held on October 14. The commission also delayed the answer key release by one day, drawing criticism from candidates.

How to Calculate SSC CGL Marks

Candidates must use their response sheet alongside the provisional answer key to calculate their probable scores. The Tier-1 exam carried a total of 200 marks . It was divided into four sections, each worth 50 marks:

  • General Awareness
  • English Language
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • Quantitative Aptitude

The SSC CGL marking scheme awards 1 mark for each correct answer . It deducts 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer . No marks are deducted for unanswered questions.

To calculate the raw score, first, sum the marks for all correct answers. Next, multiply the total number of wrong answers by 0.50. Finally, subtract this negative marking total from the correct answer marks to get the raw score.

The commission will not use raw marks for shortlisting candidates. The SSC has implemented an equi-percentile normalization method . This process adjusts scores to account for variations in difficulty levels across different exam shifts. It ensures fairness by preventing any candidate advantage or disadvantage due to exam shift difficulty.

Accessing Question Paper and Raising Objections

The SSC has also uploaded the Tier-1 question paper to its official website. The commission specifies this question paper is ” strictly for personal use and self-analysis only .” An undertaking to this effect appears in the Challenge Management portal when candidates log in.

Candidates wishing to raise objections against the provisional answer key must pay a fee. The challenge fee is Rs 50 per question . This amount was reduced from Rs 100 to ease the financial burden on candidates.
