About This Scholarship

The NSP Centrally Sponsored Post-Matric Scholarship for ST Students, Mizoram 2025-26 is a significant initiative by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. This scholarship is implemented through the Government of Mizoram, with the primary objective of offering crucial financial assistance to Scheduled Tribe (ST) students within the state. The aim is to empower these students to pursue and successfully complete their post-matriculation or post-secondary education.

Selected candidates for this scholarship will receive a range of benefits, including a monthly maintenance allowance and other significant support to ease their educational journey. The selection of beneficiaries will be strictly based on the eligibility criteria outlined for the scholarship.

The application deadline for this scholarship is October 31, 2025.

Detailed Scholarship Benefits:

The selected students will receive awards based on their course group as detailed below:

Group 1: Graduate and Postgraduate courses leading to Degree, PG Diploma, M.Phil, Ph.D. in professional courses across various streams.
Hostellers: ₹1,200 per month (for 10 months)
Day Scholars: ₹550 per month (for 10 months)

Group 2: All non-professional recognized courses leading to a Graduate, Postgraduate Degree, not covered under Group I in Arts, Science, and Commerce (e.g., BA/B.Sc/B.Com or MA/MSc/M.Com).
Hostellers: ₹820 per month (for 10 months)
Day Scholars: ₹530 per month (for 10 months)

Group 3: Vocational stream, ITI courses, 3-year diploma courses in Polytechnics, etc.
Hostellers: ₹570 per month (for 10 months)
Day Scholars: ₹300 per month (for 10 months)

Group 4: All Post-matriculation level non-degree courses for which the entrance qualification is High School (Class 10).
Hostellers: ₹380 per month (for 10 months)
Day Scholars: ₹230 per month (for 10 months)

Additional Allowances for SC Students with Disabilities:

Students belonging to the SC category with disabilities, as defined under the relevant Act and certified by a competent medical authority of the state administration, are eligible for additional allowances. This provision also extends to leprosy-cured students and those with sickle cell anaemia or Thalassemia.

For Day Scholars: ₹600 per month
For Hostellers: ₹800 per month

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, an applicant must:

• be a citizen of India
• be a domicile of Mizoram
• belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category
• have passed the Class 10/12 or higher secondary examination from a recognised university or board
• have an annual family income of less than ₹2,50,000
• hold a valid account in a scheduled bank linked to Aadhaar and a mobile number
• not be receiving any other scholarship

Note:

• The scholarships will be granted for the study of post-matriculation/post-secondary courses, which must be recognised by the concerned approving authority. These courses should be pursued in the following categories of institutions/universities/colleges:
• All government institutes/colleges/universities
• Institutions of National Importance
• Central university/state university/autonomous colleges recognised by the UGC and universities/colleges recognised under section 2(f) and/or 12(b) of the UGC Act
• Deemed universities
• Private universities recognised by state/centre with ‘A’ level or equivalent accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) or National Board of Accreditation (NBA)
• Private professional institutions affiliated with a recognised central/state university
• Schools/colleges recognised by the government/government-aided for Classes 11 and 12
• Diploma-granting institutions as recognised by state/UT governments
• Vocational training institutes affiliated to the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT)
• Institutions affiliated/approved by the appropriate bodies like MCI/AICTE or any regulatory body established by the state/centre as approving authority for a particular course.

Required Documents

Required documents for the application include:

• A passport-size photograph of the student
• Domicile certificate
• Academic transcripts of previous qualifying examinations, including certificates, diplomas, degrees, etc.
• ST certificate duly signed by an authorised Revenue Officer (RO), not below the rank of Tehsildar
• An income certificate for parent(s)/guardian(s) issued by the authority as decided by the state government
• A receipt in acknowledgement of the scholarship in the previous year (if applicable)
• Disability certificate (if applicable)

How to Apply

Eligible applicants can apply by following these steps:

1. Visit the Official Portal: Go to the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at scholarships.gov.in.
2. New User Registration: If you are a new user on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), click on 'New user? Register yourself' on the left-hand side of the dashboard.
3. Complete Registration Details: Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Next' button. Enter a functional mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the initial registration process.
4. One-Time Registration (OTR): Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) process. Please note that this is a temporary registration number; students need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to finalize the OTR process.
5. Login: After successful registration and OTR, log in to the NSP using your registration ID and password.
6. Apply for Scholarship: Navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option.
7. Select Scholarship: Search for and select the 'NSP Centrally Sponsored Post-Matric Scholarship for ST Students, Mizoram' scheme.
8. Fill Application Form: Fill out the application form with all necessary personal, academic, and bank details.
9. Upload Documents: Upload all the required documents as specified in the scholarship guidelines.
10. Review and Submit: Carefully review all the information entered and the uploaded documents. Once satisfied, submit your application.

Note: All applicants are advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form. Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made. Additionally, submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.
