The Post-Matric Scholarship to SC Students, Sikkim 2025, is a significant opportunity for students from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category residing in Sikkim. This scholarship is offered by the Government of India, specifically through the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, and is administered by the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Sikkim.
It aims to support SC students pursuing education beyond the matriculation level, encompassing studies from Class 11 up to postgraduate degrees. The scholarship provides comprehensive financial assistance, including compulsory non-refundable fees and an annual academic allowance, for the entire duration of the chosen course.
Selected candidates can receive an annual academic allowance of up to ₹13,500 along with other substantial benefits designed to cover various educational expenses. This includes support for tuition, hostel fees, and other costs.
The application deadline for this scholarship is October 31, 2025, providing ample time for eligible students to prepare and submit their applications through the National Scholarship Portal.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, an applicant must:
• be domiciled in Sikkim
• belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category of the state
• be studying a post-matriculation or post-secondary course in a recognised institution/college/university
• have passed the matriculation or higher secondary or any higher level examination from a recognised university or board of secondary education.
• have an annual parent(s)/guardian(s) income of not more than ₹2,50,000 from all sources
Note:
• The age limit for admission as a regular student in different classes will be determined by the concerned institutions.
• Candidates are ineligible if they repeat the same educational stage in a different subject (e.g., I.Sc. after I.A., B.Com. after B.A.) or pursue a Master's degree (M.A.) in a different subject after obtaining an M.A. in another subject.
• Students pursuing their studies through distance learning or continuing education programs are eligible to apply. However, this applies only to courses offered by Central/State universities.
• If a student is awarded two scholarships simultaneously, they may have the option to choose one. Their preference should be formally communicated to the awarding authorities through the Head of their Institution.
Required Documents
The following documents are required for the application:
• Passport-sized photograph of the student
• One attested copy of academic transcripts including certificates, diplomas, degrees, etc.
• Income certificate issued by the authorised state government authority for the parent(s)/guardian(s)
• A valid caste certificate duly signed by an authorised Revenue Officer (RO) of the Tehsildar rank or above
• Previous year's scholarship receipt (if applicable)
How to Apply
Eligible applicants can apply by following these steps:
1. Click on the 'Apply Now' button below.
2. Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note: If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
3. Navigate to the 'Students' option on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
4. Now, click on the 'Login' button under the OTR option, as it is required to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
5. Click on the 'New user? Register yourself' on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
6. Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Next' button.
7. Enter a functional mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the registration process.
8. Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process. (Note: This is a temporary registration number; students need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to complete the OTR process.)
9. After successful registration, navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
10. Select the scholarship, fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents, and submit.
Note: All applicants are advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form. Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made. Additionally, submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.
