Freeship Card Issuance:
All eligible students are entitled to take admission to institutions without pre-payment of tuition and hostel fees, in accordance with the program rules. To facilitate this, a FREESHIP CARD will be issued by the State Government to eligible students.

This Freeship Card will make the student eligible to study without pre-payment of fees, on the condition that the institution will be intimated to collect the fee amount from the student once the scholarship amount is released to their account.

Procedure for Freeship Card:
• Students must register for the Freeship Card on the respective scholarship portal well in advance of their anticipated admission date.
• Registration requires details like Aadhaar number, the name of the course (e.g., MBBS, B.Sc., Class 11), and an undertaking that institution fees will be paid within 7 working days from the date of receipt of the scholarship amount.
• The registration portals for the Freeship Card remain open throughout the year.
• Verification of income, caste, and merit details should ideally be automated from online databases for immediate processing and a paperless experience. Until the automated system is in effect, scanned documents including a passport-size photograph, copies of academic certificates, a duly signed Caste certificate, and a valid Income certificate must be uploaded.
• After portal registration, if a student is found eligible, all States/UTs will complete the verification process within 30 days of receiving the request. They will then issue the Freeship Card through the IT portal, specifying the applied course. This ensures eligible students are not denied admission due to fee payment delays. Students can download the Freeship Card directly from the portal.
• The Freeship Card is valid for admission purposes for one year from its issue date.
• If a student needs to change their course before enrolling, they can log onto the IT portal to get a fresh Freeship Card issued automatically for eligible students.
• Continuing students will not need to re-register for the Freeship Card; a card issued to them will be valid for the entire duration of their course.
