About This Scholarship
This scholarship scheme, initiated by the Ministry of Railways, offers significant financial assistance to wards of ex-serving and serving Railway Protection Force (RPF) or Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) personnel, provided they are below the rank of a gazetted officer. The primary goal is to promote higher technical and professional education among these eligible dependents.
Selected beneficiaries will receive a monthly scholarship. Female candidates are awarded ₹3,000 per month, while male candidates receive ₹2,500 per month. Additionally, all selected candidates will be honored with a personal letter of congratulations directly from the Honourable Prime Minister. This initiative aims to recognize the contributions of RPF/RPSF personnel by supporting the educational aspirations of their families.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, an applicant must:
• Be a dependent ward (child) or widow of ex-serving and serving Railway Protection Force (RPF)/Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) personnel who are below the rank of Gazetted Officer.
• Have taken regular admission in the academic year 2025-26 and be applying for the PMSS for the same academic year.
• Have secured at least 60% marks in their Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ), which includes Class 12, diploma, or graduation.
• Be enrolled in professional degree courses such as BE, B.Tech, BDS, MBBS, BEd, LLB, BCA, MCA, B.Pharma, etc., that are recognized by relevant government regulatory bodies like AICTE, MCI, UGC, or NCTE.
Important Notes:
• Master's degree courses are generally not eligible, with the exceptions of MBA and MCA.
• Distance learning courses are not eligible for this scheme. Furthermore, recipients are eligible to avail this scholarship for only a single course.
• Only two wards per family are eligible for the scholarship. Both beneficiaries and concerned zonal Railways/RPSF must ensure strict compliance with this limit.
• Eligibility is strictly restricted to institutes, universities, and colleges that adhere to AISHE regulations.
Preference for Scholarship Allotment:
If the number of applications exceeds the available scholarships, the following order of preference will be applied:
• Category I: Wards/widows of ex-RPF/RPSF personnel who died in harness due to causes attributed to encounters with terrorists or criminals while protecting Railway Property, Passengers, and Passenger Areas, or those who died during election duty.
• Category II: Wards/widows of ex-RPF/RPSF personnel who died while in service.
• Category III: Wards of ex-RPF/RPSF (retired) personnel.
• Category IV: Wards of serving RPF/RPSF personnel.
Required Documents
For Fresh Applicants:
• Service certificate issued by the respective office, specifically for Category IV applicants (as per Annexure II).
• PPO/Discharge Certificate/Book (required for applicants falling under Categories I, II, and III).
• Scanned copy of marksheet of the Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ), which can be 10+2, Diploma, or Graduation.
For Renewal Applicants:
• Updated Service Certificate, issued by the respective office for Category IV applicants (as per Annexure II).
• A scanned copy of the previous class marksheet/grade card or Proof of upgradation issued by the competent authority.

How to Apply
Eligible applicants can apply by following these steps:
1. Click on the 'Apply Now' button available on the scholarship page of the official website.
2. Proceed to click the 'Register' button and accurately fill in all the required registration details. If you are already registered, log in using your Gmail, mobile number, or email ID.
3. On the dashboard, navigate to the left-hand side and click on the 'Students' option.
4. Next, click on the 'Login' button located under the 'OTR' (One-Time Registration) option, as this is a mandatory step to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
5. On the left side of the dashboard, click on 'New user? Register yourself'.
6. Carefully read through all the provided details, tick the checkbox to confirm, and then click the 'Next' button.
7. Enter a functional mobile number, the displayed captcha code, and the OTP (One-Time Password) you receive. Submit these details to complete the initial registration process.
8. Fill in all the required personal and academic details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process. Note: This will provide a temporary registration number. Students must then download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to fully complete the OTR process.
9. After successful registration, navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
10. Select the specific scholarship you are applying for, accurately fill in all the necessary details in the application form, upload all the required documents, and finally, submit your application.
Important Considerations:
• All applicants are strongly advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form. Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made.
• Submitting multiple applications for the same scheme will result in disqualification.
