BHOPAL – Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Anurag Jain has initiated a comprehensive drive to significantly improve Class 10 and 12 board examination results across the state. This directive follows the academic year 2024-25, where pass rates stood at over 87% for Class 10 and approximately 83% for Class 12. Jain’s instructions emphasize the immediate need for enhanced strategies to boost student performance in upcoming exams.
During a recent high-level meeting with state government and education department officials, Chief Secretary Jain highlighted the critical link between strong school performance and the state’s broader developmental objectives. This renewed focus on education aligns with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s earlier directives, which called for specific actions including increasing the gross enrollment ratio, actively reducing student dropout rates, and ensuring the 100% distribution of all eligible scholarships.
Intensified Focus on Board Examination Outcomes
The Chief Secretary has ordered intensive efforts to elevate the success rates in both Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. Schools and educational departments must now implement targeted programs and support systems. These initiatives are designed to better prepare students, enhance their understanding of core subjects, and ultimately improve their overall scores and pass percentages.
Ensuring Punctual Teacher Attendance and Accountability
A cornerstone of the new educational strategy is strict enforcement of teacher attendance in all government schools. Jain specifically urged education officials to fully leverage the e-Attendance app, a digital tool designed to monitor teacher presence effectively. The app has already demonstrated high compliance, with a notable 94% attendance record in Rajgarh district, setting a precedent for statewide implementation.
In addition to monitoring attendance, the Chief Secretary issued clear instructions for stringent action against teachers found to be negligent in their professional responsibilities. This measure aims to foster a more accountable teaching environment and ensure that educators are consistently delivering high-quality instruction to students.
Boosting Student Enrollment and Retention Across Grades
To expand access to education, officials have been directed to intensify efforts to boost student enrollment. This drive focuses on increasing the number of students transitioning from Anganwadi centers into primary education, and subsequently, ensuring their continuous progression through secondary school. The goal is to maximize the number of children entering and remaining within the formal education system.
Crucially, the government also aims to curb the dropout rate significantly. Schools are tasked with identifying students at risk of leaving education prematurely and implementing proactive measures to retain them. Reducing dropouts is vital for improving overall literacy rates and ensuring more young people complete their foundational schooling.
Streamlining Scholarship and Benefit Distribution
Ensuring that financial aid reaches deserving students without delay is a top priority. Chief Secretary Jain directed departments to guarantee the prompt receipt of all scholarships and educational benefits. This initiative is designed to remove financial barriers that might hinder a student’s educational journey.
Furthermore, Jain mandated comprehensive registration of students on the National Scholarship Portal. This requirement applies to students from Class 9 through those enrolled in college programs. The portal streamlines the application and distribution process, ensuring transparency and efficiency in providing crucial financial support.
Forward-Looking Educational Reforms
These directives collectively underscore the Madhya Pradesh government’s commitment to elevating the standard of public education. By implementing strategic interventions in academic achievement, teacher performance, student accessibility, and financial support, the state aims to build a more robust, equitable, and effective education system that prepares young adults for future success.
